Case : SINI-SYMON (Follow-Up)
Case Summary

Sini Sam's case was telecast in Kathayalla Ithu Jeevitham on the 30th of September and the 1st and 2nd of October, 2011. Symon, Sini's husband and the father of her two sons had runaway with his lady love, Siji, married and mother of two. Sini's attempts to bring back her husband had only brought her disdain. After the telecast of the case's court sitting, the two runaways came to Kathayalla Ithu Jeevitham to confront the aftermaths of their misdeed. The telecast had forced the two to approach the TV court and clarify their conduct. With the case brought to light before the show's viewers, it had become difficult for them to stay in peace at their hideout in Chennai.

The Defendants' Version

Both runaways, Symon and Siji, say that Sini's allegation of their extra-marital affair was initially false. Symon stresses that though he had known Siji from a very early time and had also had a liking towards her in his bachelor years, there was nothing like an affair between them, and not at all after his marriage to Sini. Siji supported this statement. According to Symon, Sini was suspicious about her husband from the very beginning. When Symon, after years of their marriage, once again happened to confront Siji and on certain situations, behaved like a friendly co-villager to her, Sini started with her baseless doubts. Sini, driven by her suspicions, began threatening Siji and simultaneously also filled her own married life with quarrels and queries.

Symon and Siji's counter-complaint is that Sini's false allegations and aggressions backed by her mother made it impossible for them both to continue leading a normal life and therefore, stirred by the blaming procedures, they were made to elope.

The Court's Findings

Through repeated and strong interrogation, the court understood that the defendants were giving false versions to justify their mistake and establish that they are innocent. A telephonic conversation with Siji's husband, Abraham, erased all doubts of a provoking behaviour from Sini. Abraham said that Sini had not made any threatening attempts that could have aroused the family's furies against Siji. He is equally perplexed and hurt by the eloping.

The court alike all the viewers and listeners of the case, doubt that it might have been a concealed affection that false-guided Symon and Siji to do that which has now brought them before the court.

It couldn't be ignored that even the little kids' outpouring tears, apart from Sini's pleas, couldn't convince Symon to re-think his decision of abandoning his wife and children. Nor could the cries and whimpers compel Siji to step aside because for her it is only desertion waiting at both her husband's and her mother's home.

After all these, Sini still wants Symon back into her life.

KIJ's Conclusion

This is a one of its kind case. Rounds of interrogation, consolation and counseling could not move the defendants from their stand or conclude with a satisfactory solution. Siji and Symon came to defend themselves and leaving the case at a perplexed stand, they walked away together.

Following our KELSA panel's advice given to Sini on the previous sitting, a case had already been filed at the Adoor Legal Services Authority court. Following the court's order, Adoor Police arrested Symon and Siji. Symon was then taken into remand. With Symon been put in jail, Siji was staying with a relative at Adoor. Symon got bail and now both of them are staying together at the relative's residence. The case is still proceeding.
