Maya’s Version
According to Maya, her husband was a drunkard who used to mentally and physically torture her. They lost their house and land on account of Rajendran’s careless spending and debt. Following this, they were living in a rent house.

Few years before the case was brought to Kathayalla Ithu Jeevitham, Rajendran Pilla walked off his home and till date there is no clue to his whereabouts. His prolonged years of absence brought Maya close to Santosh, also from Sooranad. Santosh, who is a bachelor and Maya have been living together for sometime now. Maya wants to end her relationship with Rajendran Pilla and get a legal recognition for her relationship with Santosh.  She blames the former to have ruined her life and believes that he is keeping another wife.

Santosh is working in a petrol pump nearby the Amrita Institute of Biotechnology. Maya works in the canteen of the same Institute. Maya’s parents were separated in her childhood. It was her grandmother and uncles who brought her up.  Maya’s mother, the one she detests the most, has been leaving separate from her much before her marriage. Maya wasn’t willing to allow Kathayalla Ithu Jeevitham team to meet her mother. The meeting had to be carried out much secretively following long investigation to trace the mother’s address.

Maya’s Mother’s Version
What Maya’s mother told our team is the right opposite of what Maya placed in her appeal. According to her and a number of others from Maya’s neighbourhood, Rajendran was a blameless and polite person. It was Maya and her greediness that trapped them both in debt and the resultant frustrations in their relationship pushed Rajendran for an escape. The neighbours’ testimonies say that he was though a lot concerned about his children.

Rumours are also that Maya and Santosh’s affair had budded at the time when Rajendran Pilla was off for work abroad.
