|Sijina, a native of Calicut, went to the Malabar Medical College Hospital to get a D &C done, after her first pregnancy miscarried. A routine blood test conducted during the course of the procedure unloosened a storm that almost capsized her life. Rather strangely, the hospital authorities carried out an aids test without Sijina's consent or knowledge and then publicly proclaimed that she had tested positive for HIV. The resultant disgrace nearly drove Sijina & her family to the edge of a mass suicide
Meena a tribal woman met a Muslim youth Rahim, fell in love with him and soonbore him twin children as testimony of their affection for each other. Rahim howeverdenied their paternity, threatened her into submission and finally abandoned Meena
and their children to their plight.
It was at this juncture that Meena approached Kathayalla Ithu Jeevitham with hergrievances. Though no effort was spared to make Rahim participate in the programme,all attempts failed as he flatly refused to put in an appearance. After Meena's heartrending tale was telecast in Kathayalla Ithu Jeevitham, he seemed to have had achange of heart. Rahim has admitted his mistakes, indicated his willingness to come to the negotiating table and expressed a sincere desire to arrive at a compromise.
